Last weekend, my amigos and I marched in the Little Five Points Halloween Parade. The parade is one of my favorite events of the entire year, so I was stoked when S suggested we participate this year. We had a blast, even though we couldn’t really see much of the parade.
My very hirsute boyfriend dressed up as the Juan Percent aka a rich Mexican milkman. I dressed up as a pinata. Yeah, is not the sexiest costume I could have imagined, which definitely sets me apart from other chicas at Halloween time. Oh well. I think it was an awesomely creative costume and I’m proud of my handiwork. (Maybe one day when I lose 20 pounds I can be a sexy pinata).
S dressed up as Chiquita banana, which was one of my other favorite costumes of the parade. As y’all may have gathered, my love for all things Hispanic runs long and deep. When I was a kid, there was a singing/dancing Chiquita banana lady at my local dairy store and every time I went there, I would sing and dance along. When I left for college, my mom used to call me and leave voicemails of the singing banana when she went to the store. Just for good measure, here’s a pic of me dancing with her.
